Software load balancers are making a big splash in recent times driven by developer-centric and application-led initiatives. Adding to this growing space of excitement is the up and coming Avi Networks (a Gartner Cool Vendor in Enterprise Networking 2016) which makes load balancers cool again!
Delivering application services (load balancing, service discovery, tenant isolation, traffic and performance analytics, etc.) in a multicloud environment on OpenStack does not seem to be a cakewalk. Legacy, appliance-based load balancers, according to our customers, are neither flexible nor agile. They do not offer the self-service capabilities that our customers need to continuously innovate and deliver.
